A bright red BMW was purchased by a middle-aged man experiencing a mid-life crisis.
One day, he decided to take his new BMW for a spin down the interstate.
As he reached speeds of about 85 mph, he suddenly noticed a highway patrolman approaching him with his blue lights flashing and siren wailing.
Determined to escape, the man accelerated to 95 mph and then to 105 mph, but the patrolman continued to close in.
Eventually, reality struck the man and he thought, “This is insane, I could end up in jail,” prompting him to pull over.
The patrolman approached the vehicle and said, “It’s been a long day and I’m quite tired. If you can provide me with an excuse that no one has ever used, I’ll let you off the hook.”
The man replied, “Last night my wife left me for a patrolman, and when I saw you chasing me, I assumed you were trying to return her.”
The officer glanced at the man and said, “Have a nice day.”
