Webber edged out by Vettel for Korea pole

Qualifying for the Korean Grand Prix was dominated by Red Bull, with Sebastian Vettel managing to edge out his team-mate Mark Webber to claim pole position.

This marks the ninth time this season that Vettel has taken the honours, finishing just ahead of Webber and two tenths of a second faster than Fernando Alonso, who secured third place in his Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton from McLaren found himself in fourth place after a lackluster session, while Nico Rosberg from Mercedes clocked the fifth-fastest time. Felipe Massa of Ferrari finished sixth, and Jenson Button ended up in seventh.

As the weekend approached, Webber held a 14-point lead in the championship over Alonso and Vettel, with Hamilton trailing 28 points behind the Australian.

After taking pole, Vettel remarked: “It was a very good achievement from all of us, because yesterday was not smooth running.”

Webber also commented, saying, “It would have been nice to get pole, but it’s a good place to start the race.”
