Titus Bramble suspected of sexual assault

Sunderland’s Titus Bramble is back in the headlines, the defender arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and drug possession.

Police confirmed Bramble was taken for questioning after he was arrested in Cleveland, just outside Middlesborough.

“The club is looking into this matter but due to ongoing police investigations is unable to comment further at this stage,” Sunderland said.

In 2002, rape charges against Bramble and fellow footballers, Carlton Cole and Kieran Dyer, were dropped because of insufficient evidence.

Last year, Bramble was released without charge after being arrested for an alleged rape in a Newcastle hotel room.
