Chess boxing is an innovative sport that fuses boxing with chess across 11 alternating rounds. This ultimate competition tests both physical and mental prowess, allowing participants to secure victory through either a checkmate or a knockout.
Van Melick claimed the championship at the Boston Dome in London, defeating Patrick Teehan with a checkmate. The Dutchman outsmarted Teehan in 24 moves, earning him the title of heavyweight champion.
