The latest FIFA world rankings have seen Australia fall four places to No.24, while France has also dropped significantly due to their recent underwhelming performances.
Spain, the reigning world and European champions, held onto the top position in the rankings, ahead of the Netherlands, the other finalist from the 2010 World Cup.
During the rankings period, the Socceroos faced a 2-0 defeat against Slovenia, managed a 0-0 draw with Switzerland, and celebrated a 2-1 victory over Poland, marking their first win with new coach Holger Osieck.
Currently, the Socceroos sit ten places lower compared to their position at this time last year, when they achieved a highest-ever ranking of 14.
France’s struggles post-World Cup have continued, experiencing surprising losses to Norway and Belarus, which resulted in their drop to No.27.
Slovakia emerged as the notable victors in the latest rankings, jumping 11 places to reach No.16.
