New Zealand beat Australia to advance to World Cup final

New Zealand secured a 20-6 victory over Australia on Sunday, thanks to scumhalf Piri Weepu’s contribution of 12 points, which propelled them into the rugby World Cup final against France next week.

The All Blacks, showcasing a brutally efficient and high-tempo game plan, saw inside centre Ma’a Nonu score an early try, effectively outplaying the Wallabies and achieving their first victory over their trans-Tasman rivals at the global event.

In the first half, flyhalf Aaron Cruden successfully executed a drop goal, but the All Blacks could have increased their margin beyond 20 points; Weepu, who delivered seven penalties in last week’s quarter-final win against Argentina, also missed three penalties and a conversion.

Additionally, Cruden failed to convert a penalty.

On the Australian side, winger James O’Connor managed to score a first-half penalty, while Quade Cooper contributed with a drop goal.
