NBA’s Crittenton identified by witness to murder

During a hearing, an Atlanta police detective testified that a witness identified former NBA player Javaris Crittenton as the gunman who shot a woman fatally last month from a photo lineup.

Detective James Thorpe stated that a man accompanying Julian Jones during the shooting had a “good, clear look” at the shooter and confirmed it was Crittenton, leading to police charging the former local collegiate basketball star with murder.

Thorpe also mentioned that a neighbor identified Crittenton as the gunman involved in the drive-by shooting, and authorities allege that the shots were targeted at a man with Jones, who Crittenton believed had stolen jewelry from him.

Crittenton, who played for Georgia Tech University and last for the Washington Wizards in the NBA, missed the previous season due to an injury and most of the season before that because of a suspension following an incident involving guns in the Wizards’ locker room.

The lawyer representing Crittenton, Brian Steel, asserted that his client is innocent and is being wrongfully implicated due to erroneous eyewitness accounts.
