Chris Lawrence, the centre for Wests Tigers, will undergo more scans today on his injured hip to assess the likelihood of him returning to play in the NRL this season.
On Sunday, the Tigers confirmed that Lawrence will be sidelined for a minimum of three months due to a dislocated hip, while winger Lote Tuqiri is not expected to make his return until at least round 11.
Both Australian internationals sustained injuries during the Tigers’ costly win against Canberra on Saturday night, and initial scans on Sunday revealed the club’s fears were confirmed.
Although Lawrence was released from the hospital on Sunday night, he now faces a lengthy recovery process to get back to football.
After successfully relocating his hip, the 22-year-old is set to undergo additional scans to check for any further damage and ensure that the bones are aligned correctly.
Meanwhile, Tuqiri is scheduled to have minor corrective surgery on his right forearm this week, following X-rays that indicated a fracture in the radius bone, and he is anticipated to be out for eight weeks.
