Josh Outman, relief pitcher for the Colorado Rockies, will be sidelined at the beginning of the season due to an oblique strain he sustained while throwing something other than a fastball.
As stated by manager Jim Tracy, the injury occurred as a result of vomiting linked to food poisoning, leading to Outman starting the season on the 15-day disabled list.
“There was a lot of vomiting due to the food poisoning, and I genuinely believe he strained his oblique,” Tracy mentioned.
“Over the past few days, he has improved significantly, but he hasn’t been able to pitch. We’ve been unable to get him to the mound, so it’s best to be cautious.”
The left-handed pitcher, who was acquired by the Rockies from the Athletics in a trade during the offseason, had recorded a 3-5 record with a 3.70 ERA and 35 strikeouts last season.
