Josh Outman gets injured while vomiting

Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Josh Outman strained his oblique hurling something that wasn’t a fastball and will miss the start of the season.

According to manager Jim Tracy, Outman sustained the injury from vomiting due to a bout of food poisoning and will begin the season on the 15-day disabled list.

“The food poisoning, there was a lot of vomiting and I really believe he strained his oblique,” said Tracy.

“He’s been much better over the last couple of days but he hasn’t been able to throw. We haven’t been able to get him to the mound. So we’re just going to err on the side of caution.”

The left-hander, who joined the Rockies from the Athletics in an offseason trade, had a 3-5 record and 3.70 ERA last season, with 35 strikeouts.
