Hargreaves may sign for Foxes after fitness video

Owen Hargeaves has a YouTube advertising campaign…and it looks to have worked as Sven-Goran Eriksson is poised to add the Manchester United discard to his revolution at nPower Championship club Leicester City.

Hargreaves, who has been dogged by injury in recent years, posted training videos on YouTube to prove his football fitness after he was cut from the roster at Barclays Premier League champions Manchester United, and Eriksson is impressed enough by the vision to make a bid for the former England midfielder.

“I saw his videos,” Eriksson was quoted as saying.

“If he wants to come here, I will open the door.”

The Foxes, under mega-rich owners King Power, are blowing every other Championship club out of the water in the soccer transfer market as they seek to build a squad capable of gaining promotion to the Premier League.

Eriksson, on Thursday, broke the club’s 10-year-old transfer record by signing Reading centre-back Matt Mills for £5.2 million, ($7.7 million) beating Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers in a bidding war, and Hargreaves, 30, could be next.

Eriksson had previously signed centre-back Sean St Ledger, full-back Lee Peltier and striker David Nugent, and he hopes also to add £5 million striker Nicky Maynard from Bristol City.
