Frank Lampard, the Chelsea star, is set to make a move to Old Trafford.
Having been informed that he is no longer desired at Stamford Bridge, Lampard’s contract is approaching its expiration this summer.
Alex Ferguson, the United manager, believes that the 34-year-old veteran midfielder can still perform at the top tier of football.
Ferguson has admired Lampard for a long time, even attempting to acquire him before his move to Chelsea.
Although a transfer this month seems improbable due to the involvement of a fee, Lampard is also eager to finish his season at Stamford Bridge.
However, United is ready to extend a one-year contract offer in the summer, with a conditional second year contingent on successful performance.
Communication has already occurred between Old Trafford and Lampard’s representatives.
Currently, he has several options, including another Premier League team and two clubs overseas.
Yet, the likelihood of him joining United is strong, a scenario that would have appeared implausible at the beginning of the season.
