Del Piero, the World Cup champion (known for his passion for motorsport), has teamed up with Dempsey
Racing, along with the Grey’s Anatomy star, and aims to compete in Le Mans.
In June, they plan to enter the iconic 24-hour race in France.
Additionally, the team will participate with two cars in the American Le Mans Series based in the US.
If their entry is approved, Dempsey, who is a skilled amateur racer, will take the wheel at Le Mans alongside seasoned US drivers Joe Foster and Michael Avenatti.
Having clinched the World Cup with Italy in 2006 and numerous trophies during a 19-year career with Juventus, Del Piero is not anticipated to drive.
“I have cherished motorsport since my childhood in Italy,” he expressed.
“The chance to partner with Patrick is electrifying.”
“Our aim is to perform at an exceptional standard, with our primary goal being to secure world championships.”
At 38, Del Piero is currently the standout player for Sydney FC competing in Australia’s A-League.
The racing team will reveal more information regarding their cars, livery, and driver lineup in the weeks ahead.
Dempsey, aged 47, remarked: “I am thrilled to collaborate with Alessandro and race at the premier levels of motorsport.”
