Daniel Geale wants to defend his title in Tasmania

In Australia, IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale aims to conduct his inaugural title defense, potentially in his home state of Tasmania.

After securing the title with a 12-round split-points decision against Sebastian Sylvester in Germany over the weekend, Danny Geale returned to Sydney on Tuesday.

Sylvester has already expressed his willingness to challenge Geale again in Australia, should the Australian grant him a rematch.

However, Geale, aged 30, hasn’t dismissed the possibility of facing another Australian fighter, including Garth Wood.

He mentioned that he would also welcome a bout with Sergio Martinez, an Argentine fighter widely recognized as the best middleweight in the world and a top three pound-for-pound contender.

Additionally, Anthony Mundine has expressed interest in a rematch with Geale, whom he controversially defeated in May 2009. Nonetheless, Geale recently stated that Mundine and Wood “weren’t real fighters.”
