On Thursday, Australia’s Casey Dellacqua and Scott Lipsky from the United States triumphed over defending champions Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia to secure the French Open mixed doubles title.
In a challenging three-set match, Dellacqua and Scott Lipsky bested the reigning champions Srebotnik and Zimonjic.
Their victory, with a scoreline of 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 10-7, stopped the top-seeded pair from securing a third title in Paris, following their previous success in 2006.
After clinching her first major title, Dellacqua could barely contain her excitement.
“Winning a Grand Slam title was something I never imagined I would achieve. It’s incredibly thrilling,” expressed the 26-year-old Dellacqua, whose singles ranking has fallen to 317 in the world, a drop from her peak position of 39 in 2008.
