It has been reported that the Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala is attempting to persuade Manchester City’s unhappy striker Carlos Tevez to join the recently acquired Samuel Eto’o at their extravagant Caucasus team.
The club believes that Tevez is available following his sensational fallout with City manager Roberto Mancini, which led to a two-week suspension for the Argentine star.
“A source at the club mentioned that the terms for signing Tevez are quite favorable.”
While the team’s general director German Chistyakov refrained from commenting, player agent German Tkachenko expressed his determination to pressure City until they reach an agreement.
“Told by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to leave ten times before he finally agreed to sell Russian international Yuri Zhirkov,” Tkachenko remarked.
Interest in Tevez is also said to have surfaced from Real Madrid, in addition to clubs from Germany and Italy.
Since being purchased by Russian oil and metals tycoon Suleiman Kerimov this year, the Caspian Sea team has established itself as one of the most audacious collectors of costly talent in the sport.
The discussions with Manchester City are reported to occur just a month after Anzhi acquired Cameroon international Eto’o from Inter Milan in a deal believed to be worth $29.15 million.
Additionally, the previously lower division club has strengthened its roster with the signings of Brazil’s 1994 World Cup champion Roberto Carlos and Russian international Yuri Zhirkov.
