Five young talents have been re-signed by the Brisbane Broncos, enhancing their prospects for the future.
Included in the re-signings are Queensland and Australia winger Jharal Yow Yeh, New Zealand Kiwis forward Alex Glenn, hooker Andrew McCullough, playmaker Ben Hunt, and forward Dave Hala, all of whom have agreed to new contracts with the club.
The Broncos’ chief executive, Paul White, described the announcement as a “great day” for the organization.
“We’re absolutely thrilled that they have all signed upgraded and extended contracts with our club,” stated White.
“These players form a significant part of our core talent that we have nurtured, and we believe they will guide us into the next successful phase for the Broncos.”
Coach Anthony Griffin expressed particular satisfaction, noting that Yow Yeh, Glenn, McCullough, and Hunt were integral members of the Brisbane Toyota Cup team he led to the 2008 grand final.
“The club has diligently worked to provide these players with the chance to compete in NRL football, and they have demonstrated their capability to excel in the premier rugby league competition in the world,” he remarked.
Yow Yeh, Glenn, and McCullough have each signed contract extensions for three years, lasting until the end of 2015.
Hala’s new contract runs until the end of 2014, while Hunt, who is a prime candidate to inherit the retired legend Darren Lockyer’s No.6 jersey, has agreed to a one-year extension through the end of 2013.
