In a significant setback for Brisbane Roar, Thomas Broich has been ruled out of their crucial A-League match against Perth Glory due to a shoulder injury.
Coach Ange Postecoglou announced on Friday that Broich would not be making the trip to Perth for the evening’s game, as he has been struggling to recover from the injury he sustained during last weekend’s 3-2 victory against Melbourne Victory.
Postecoglou emphasized the necessity for all players to be in peak condition for the impending clash with Glory, who are currently positioned fourth in the A-League standings, trailing by four points.
The absence of the influential German could prove detrimental, especially since Brisbane had previously faced challenges in Broich’s absence earlier this season while they strive to close the six-point gap behind Central Coast.
“It’s a tough trip anyway; they’re in good form and it will be a tough game,” Postecoglou stated.
“Obviously Thomas has been playing well for us.”
“It presents another challenge. It’s beneficial.”
“If there are any doubts about our capabilities without Thomas, there’s only one way to eliminate those doubts.”
Additionally, midfield dynamo Massimo Murdocca is also doubtful for the Roar’s flight to Perth, as his wife is on the verge of giving birth to their first child.
In contrast, Olyroos representatives Matt Jurman and Rocky Visconte are poised to enhance Brisbane’s squad after their return from Australia’s unsuccessful Olympic qualifying campaign.
