The efforts of KV Racing to bring Rubens Barrichello on board for the 2012 IZOD IndyCar series season seem to be progressing rapidly.
In Brazil, Barrichello enjoys immense popularity, an essential market for IndyCar racing, and his debut in the KV Racing DW12 car left a positive impression.
Set to conduct another test at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma on February 25 and 26, the 40-year-old driver is eagerly anticipating more opportunities.
According to KV team manager Mark Johnson, the former Formula 1 driver is nearing a decision to secure his place in the series.
“It was similar to our approach last year with Tony Kanaan,” Johnson explained.
“We gathered around a table and asked everyone, ‘You in? You in? You in?’ and we made it occur.”
In addition, Tony Kanaan, who is a close friend of Barrichello, has played a crucial role in enticing his fellow countryman to North America.
Previously, Barrichello had vowed not to compete on oval tracks due to his wife’s requests but stated in February that the matter has now been “resolved.”
