Australia give it some Greek style

Displaying some formidable form, Australia began the second round of the basketball world championship by decisively defeating Greece 93-54 in the Czech Republic.

While the Greeks had demonstrated promising performances in their narrow losses to the United States and France during the opening round, they delivered a lackluster effort against an assertive Australian team eager to assert their dominance in the tournament.

After a slow start to the competition, Lauren Jackson returned to her stellar form, recording 20 points and 12 rebounds. Liz Cambage also took advantage of the mismatched matchup against the smaller Greek team, contributing 20 points along with six rebounds of her own.

For the underwhelming Greek team, Zoi Dimitrakou and Styliani Kaltsidou were the standout performers, each scoring 10 points.

Australia’s next challenge will be against France, scheduled for 6pm on Tuesday (0200 EST Wednesday).
