Schwarzer wants Fulham to build for future success

According to Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, Fulham must not remain stagnant and should continue to build upon their remarkable successes of recent seasons to achieve future prosperity.

Despite being one of the smaller top-tier clubs in London regarding ground capacity and tradition, Fulham has managed to finish in the Barclays Premier League top 10 twice in the last three seasons and reached the Europa League final in 2010.

“We just need to keep building on our past performances from recent years,” Schwarzer remarked.

“For Fulham Football Club, and for many of us personally, the last three seasons have been absolutely fantastic.

“It may well be the most successful three years in many of our professional careers. Continuing that momentum is essential.

“We are confident that we deserve to be in the top half of the Premier League, and we hope to contend in Europe every few seasons.

“The expectations are consistently high. When I first joined, the club had barely escaped relegation with just 15 minutes to go, so anything above that felt like a victory.

“After finishing seventh, enjoying a tremendous European run, and finishing eighth last year, the expectations have certainly risen.

“As players, we recognize this and understand the importance of meeting those expectations.

“It’s been an exciting challenge so far. When examining the club’s history and the immense accomplishments, particularly over the past three years, it’s truly outstanding.”

Schwarzer also acknowledged the role of Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed.

“The chairman has shown unwavering support, and the club wouldn’t be where it is today without his backing,” he stated.

“He has always been there for us and his support has been rock-solid. He consistently seeks to advance the club.

“During my time here, I have observed significant progress.”
