Big Belle’s Simple Chocolate Pudding

Chocolate is adored by many…unless you’re lactose intolerant, which isn’t my concern.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup or 150g of self-raising flour
  • 100g or 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 2tbs cocoa powder
  • 125mls or 1/2 cup of milk
  • 50g melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • thickened cream

Chocolate sauce:

  • 155g or 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 2tsp cocoa powder
  • 375ml or 1 1/2 cup of boiling water

Start by preheating your oven to 180 degrees and greasing a 1.5 litre ovenproof dish.
In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and cocoa powder (feel free to sieve the ingredients if you’d like, though it might be a hassle).
Create a well in the center with clean fingers, then in a jug, combine the milk, butter, and egg. Pour this mixture into the well and stir. Transfer the odd-looking mix into the greased dish and level it with a spoon.
Prepare the chocolate sauce by combining the sugar and cocoa powder in a bowl (sifting, if that’s your thing), then sprinkle it over the pudding and carefully pour the boiling water on top.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until it’s fully cooked.
Serve with a generous amount of cream or ice cream and indulge yourself to the point of discomfort.
