Why do we have pubic hair?

Numerous theories exist regarding the purpose of pubic hair in humans.

One perspective suggests that the hair surrounding the genitals and underarms serves to trap pheromones, which are sexually attractive scents.

For some individuals, these scents may be readily apparent, enhancing sexual attraction. Conversely, for others, while pheromones might not be overtly detected, they could still be perceived on a subconscious level. Some people contend that pubic hair ensures warmth for the genitals, while others argue that its function is to block dirt from entering the vagina.

Additionally, pubic hair plays a role in safeguarding against skin friction. The irritation caused by skin rubbing can be mitigated by the presence of hair, which helps protect sensitive regions from redness due to friction. This function may also provide a barrier against potential irritation during sexual activity.
