At the Henan Division of the Miss Bikini International Pageant in Sanmenxia City, central China, over 20 Chinese bikini beauties engaged in one-on-one “Pushing Hands” battles.
“Pushing Hands” is a two-person training routine commonly found in internal Chinese martial arts, including T’ai chi ch’uan.
In this practice, candidates had to keep their lower bodies stable to assist their upper bodies in both defensive and offensive maneuvers. This resembles Japanese Sumo but does not involve leg movements.
The activity effectively showcased the candidates’ strength, flexibility, and balance, marking an unprecedented challenge in a bikini competition.
