World’s largest chocolate bar is unveiled

Thorntons, the chocolate maker, has set a record for the largest chocolate bar in the world, creating a massive treat that weighs nearly six tonnes (5,792.5kgs) and measures four metres by four metres.

To commemorate its centenary, Thorntons produced this colossal bar, predicting that its sheer size will lead to many satisfied sweet tooths.

The inspiration for this record-setting creation came from a chocolate-enthusiast employee, who cherished Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a child.

Paul Bell from Thorntons stated: “We had a brainstorming session for ideas on how to celebrate our 100th birthday, and recalling a scene from my favorite childhood film, I thought it would be brilliant to create the largest chocolate bar as a reverse of a shrinking chocolate bar scene.”

Previously, the record was held by American candy manufacturer World’s Finest Chocolate, which produced a treat that weighed an impressive five-and-a-half tonnes (5,529.29kg).

Thorntons Master Chocolatier, Keith Hurdman, remarked: “This has been one of the most daunting challenges we have faced at Thorntons, testing all of our chocolate-making skills.”

“I’m truly proud of the entire team; the planning took months, with over 50 people involved in its creation, making the Guinness World Records title a remarkable accomplishment and a splendid way to honor our 100th birthday.”

Unveiled during Chocolate Week, which spans from October 10 to October 16,

Members of the public will have the opportunity to sample the record-breaking chocolate when it is segmented and sold in Thorntons stores in the upcoming weeks.
