Wedding ring found on carrot after 16 years

A woman has astonishingly discovered her white gold wedding ring on a carrot in her garden – 16 years after it went missing.

In December 1995, while baking with her daughters, Lena Paahlsson from Sweden took off her white gold ring, placing it on the kitchen counter, but it disappeared without a trace.

The family scoured their home for the lost ring, even going so far as to remove floorboards at their northern Sweden farm in search of it.

Paahlsson had nearly lost hope until October of this year, when she was harvesting carrots in her garden and unexpectedly found the ring encircling one of the veggies.

According to the family, the only plausible explanation is that the ring must have slipped into the sink in 1995 and mixed with potato peels which were later composted or given to the sheep, as the garden soil comprises composted vegetables and sheep dung.

Although the ring no longer fits Paahlsson, she intends to have it resized. “I had given up hope. Now that I have found the ring again I want to be able to use it,” she shared with the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
