Vatican buys apartments above gay sauna

Claims that the Vatican has spent £21million on a Rome apartment block situated above ‘Europe’s largest gay sauna’ have officials in a state of worry.

These shocking allegations are set to cause significant embarrassment for the Catholic Church as cardinals commence their voting today for a new Pope to succeed Benedict XVI after his unexpected resignation.

As he prepares to cast his vote, Cardinal Ivan Dias, who is 76 years old, is likely to feel even more discomfort as he currently lives in a luxurious 12-room first-floor apartment within the complex.

Dozens of priests from the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, which oversees missionary activities, reside in an additional 18 flats.

In 2008, the Holy See reportedly bought the opulent headquarters, seemingly oblivious to the steamy activities transpiring just below them.

La Repubblica newspaper pointed out that ‘Italy’s best known gay sauna located on the premises is quite the embarrassment,’ splashing the story across its front page on Monday.

The well-known Europa Multiclub Sauna and Gym is widely recognized as ‘the top gay sauna in Italy.’

On their website, they showcase a video featuring one of their special ‘bear nights’ where a man transitions from a thong to a priest’s outfit. The Vatican has chosen not to comment on these reports.
