One city worker in the US may have resorted to stealing more than 20 rolls of toilet paper from his employers due to the rising cost of living.
David Pinkham, hailing from Massachusetts, was apprehended when police observed him departing Lawrence City Hall with a case of unused toilet paper. Evidence from security videos confirmed he had entered the building without any items but left carrying the case.
Further investigations uncovered that he had even more concealed on his person, with six rolls stashed inside his pants.
A police report detailed that he ‘pulled six tightly folded toilet paper rolls from his buttocks and groin area’ when at the police station.
At 53 years old, Mr. Pinkham acknowledged this was not the first incident of him pilfering toilet paper from work, admitting to taking it and other items on five or six separate occasions.
He faced charges of larceny over $250.
Additionally, he appears not to be the only employee attempting to save money by lifting toilet roll.
In April, a German politician was caught after he had stolen over 200 toilet rolls from Stralsund’s city hall.
Reports indicate that Frank-Michael John appropriated the bog roll over several months until he was caught by the building’s property manager, who concealed himself in an empty toilet stall to catch the thief in the act.
