For Chanel Tapper, seeking a challenge might not be the best idea, as her ambition was to secure the title of having the longest tongue in the world and earn a spot in the 2012 Guinness Book of World Records.
The California-based student possesses a serpent-like tongue that is twice the average length.
This colossal appendage measures 3.8 inches (9.75 cm) from the tip to the top lip.
Ms. Tapper’s tongue is comparable in size to an average chocolate bar and can span the width of a palm.
According to the world record holder, the reactions she received when displaying her tongue publicly were largely positive.
“They’ll ask me to do it again,” she shared.
“Some girls/women have screamed and jumped back, and if there are others nearby, the person who saw my tongue often tells the nearest person.”
“I’m frequently asked questions like, ‘Can you touch your nose or elbow?’ and ‘Do you choke people when you kiss them?'”
“Yet, one way or another, they are always entertained by what they see.”
