A man weighing 610kg (96st) stranded in his home has been rescued in an elaborate operation funded by the Saudi king.
Khalid Mohsen Shaeri had not left his second floor flat for two years after massive weight gain brought on by various health problems.
Specialist equipment was used to cut away the side of his apartment building in Jazan before the 20-year-old was removed with a forklift.
He was flown to Riyadh on a chartered plane for treatment at King Fahd Medical City, with surgery not ruled out.
It is not known why Saudi monarch King Abdullah decided to fund the rescue operation.
