So this is why the Poms are useless at soccer

A council in northern England has apologised after a fence was built through the middle of soccer goalposts in a local park.

The new fence, costing almost $10,000, was installed by City of York Council workers on a  soccer pitch in the suburb of Heworth as part of an upgrade of the park facilities.

Dave Meigh, City of York Council’s head of parks and open spaces said, “We recognise that the failure to relocate the goalposts is a real own goal.”

He said he had asked for the matter to be resolved “as a matter of urgency and we can only apologise for the error”.
