Eight brass plaques were stolen by thieves from a war memorial to be sold as scrap.
The plaques, which displayed the names of 89 fallen heroes, were pried off a local monument in Lingfield, England, using crowbars.
It’s shocking to see such despicable individuals in our society. Is there really nothing else they could target…do they truly lack any sense of morals?
Those who show such blatant disregard for others and their property deserve a severe prison sentence, as it is likely they would refrain from repeating their actions afterward.
Thanks to a man who attempted to sell the plaques to a scrap metal dealer, the items were recovered; the dealer promptly contacted the authorities.
The memorial was successfully restored just in time for Remembrance Day last week.
Let’s give a shoutout to scrap metal dealers…at least some decent people still exist.
