Prince Harry poser cons workman on Facebook

An Austrian tradesman became a victim of a €27,500 scam when a fraudster impersonated Prince Harry on Facebook.

The swindler presented the tradesman with a ‘contract’ worth a million euros, claiming it was for renovating the parquet floors at Buckingham Palace.

As part of the agreement, the floor installer was instructed to transfer €27,500 to multiple bank accounts to initiate a British business for the project.

However, after failing to receive any communication from the Facebook profile bearing the name ‘Prince Harry,’ the individual reached out to Austrian law enforcement on Friday, as reported by the media.

Authorities from the Burgenland province have since informed the victim that the likelihood of recovering the funds is ‘slim.’

Initially, the victim transferred €2,500 to a Lloyds Bank account, followed by a request for a ‘security deposit’ of €22,000 and an additional payment of €3,000.
