In Zhengzhou, in China’s Henan province, 32-year-old Wang Hongbo was caught on camera as he lifted a mobile phone from a woman’s pocket while she cycled by, unaware of the theft.
He was seen pursuing the oblivious cyclist down a crowded street, skillfully extracting the handset with his specially modified tools.
After the theft, the thief was spotted inspecting his stolen property before selling it at a nearby second-hand shop.
A passer-by captured the entire incident in photographs and shared them online, which ultimately led to his downfall.
Eventually, Mr. Hongbo surrendered himself to the authorities.
