In Blackpool, England, 35-year-old Sandra Ellis, angered by officials denying her dog entry to a polling station, went so far as to strip naked.
“I have no one to look after my dog while I vote – animals deserve rights too,” stated the former chef.
Attempts by council staff to drape a coat over Miss Ellis were met with defiance as she tossed it aside, persisting in her protest.
She has been hit with a fine of as much as $130.
According to a staff member from the polling station, who preferred to remain anonymous, “Typically, animals are prohibited from entering unless they are guide dogs or support animals.”
The police were summoned, and she was taken into custody on allegations of being drunk and behaving disorderly.
