In Brazil, police have taken into custody a man for forgery after he attempted to open a bank account with a fake identification document featuring actor Jack Nicholson’s photo.
Arrested in the northeastern city of Recife, 41-year-old Ricardo Sergio Freire de Barros faces charges for using counterfeit documents and forgery, according to police.
Additionally, he possessed identification documents belonging to other individuals.
A police-released copy of the forged ID displays Nicholson’s image alongside the signature of “Joao Pedro dos Santos” and a fingerprint.
“Using the document featuring the actor’s image and other fraudulent IDs, he intended to establish a fictitious company in order to open a bank account,” stated Erivaldo Guerra, head of the civil police investigation. “This would enable him to exploit cheque limits and credit cards” for theft.
Authorities revealed that Freire de Barros was already under investigation for fraud at the time of his arrest.
