In a desperate bid to rid himself of a wart, Sean Murphy resorted to using a shotgun, resulting in the loss of half his finger and nearly landing in prison.
After trying numerous creams and ointments to eliminate the painful wart, the 38-year-old ultimately concluded that drastic measures were necessary when the obstinate blemish wouldn’t disappear.
Frustrated with the itching caused by the wart, and after consuming a few pints of beer, Murphy took a 12-bore shotgun and shot off the wart, simultaneously losing a significant part of his finger.
This bizarre method of treatment attracted the attention of the authorities, leading to Murphy facing firearms charges due to the illegal possession of the shotgun.
Yesterday, the security guard was handed a 16-week suspended sentence, which he expressed satisfaction with.
Speaking outside Doncaster magistrates’ court, he remarked, ‘I’m aware that I could have faced up to 15 years in prison for a firearms offence. My solicitor performed exceptionally well.’
In court, Murphy admitted that he didn’t anticipate losing his finger when he pulled the trigger but expressed no regrets about his extreme decision.
He stated, ‘The positive outcome is that the wart is gone. It was causing me a lot of problems.’
