Man in wheelchair robs bank at gun-point

Police in Phoenix, in the US, are on the lookout for a gunman who robbed a local bank of $70,000 while in a wheelchair.

Detectives said the man rolled into a branch of AmTrust Bank in south Phoenix overnight and demanded money from a teller at gunpoint.

After the teller complied, the man placed the cash in what appeared to be a laptop bag, got out of the wheelchair and ran off.

According to police, witnesses said he may have driven away in a newer model red Ford Taurus.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s to early 30s. He has a slim build.

He was wearing a long-sleeved pinstripe shirt, a tan Fedora hat with a red and blue stripe, jeans and black boots.

Surveillance images have not yet been released, and anyone with information has been asked to call the police.
