A lawsuit has been filed by an Alabama man who asserts that after going for a circumcision, he awoke to discover his penis had been amputated.
Johnny Lee Banks Jnr alleges that during a standard circumcision at Princeton Baptist Medical Center, surgeons mistakenly removed his penis.
According to the lawsuit, which Banks filed alongside his wife Zelda, the man received no explanation for the removal of his penis, nor was he informed that the circumcision could potentially lead to an amputation.
‘Upon awakening from his aforementioned surgical procedure, the plaintiff found that his penis had been amputated,’ the lawsuit states.
‘The plaintiffs did not provide consent for either the complete or partial amputation of his penis.’
In the lawsuit, the man has named the hospital, two clinics, and two doctors as defendants, claiming their negligence in failing to seek assistance when complications occurred during the procedure.
In a perhaps expected turn of events, the man’s wife has also asserted a claim for loss of consortium.
