Messy breakups can take many forms, but erecting a giant bronze garden sculpture featuring a middle finger aimed at your ex-wife is certainly unique.
Alan Markovitz, a well-known strip club owner based in Detroit, has recently added a colossal hand sculpture to the back of his Orchard Lake residence.
The 59-year-old reportedly became infuriated when his wife, Lea Tuohy (now divorced), had an affair with a man he knew well during their two-year marriage.
According to reports, Markovitz invested $7,000 in this 12-foot-tall garden ‘ornament,’ which is highlighted by a spotlight at night.
Just earlier this week, Lenka Tuohy, who is believed to be the daughter of Markovitz’s ex-wife, shared a photo of the statue on Twitter.
She expressed her disbelief, writing: ‘How psychotic do you have to be to buy the house directly next to your ex wife and then put a statue up like that?!?! Real classy Alan.’
She also mentioned, ‘It’s hard for me to enjoy my baths now because my favorite tub is in my mom’s bathroom, which faces out towards Tif and Alan’s house.’
Markovitz insists that it is merely a ‘coincidence’ that he ended up living next to his ex-wife, who is said to have moved into the house following their divorce.
“I’m so over her,” said Markovitz. “This is about him. This is about him not being a man.”
He further commented, “He broke the Man Code. He’s a total freakin’ asshole. Real men don’t do that to another guy.”
Last week, Markovitz revealed the sculpture, eliciting loud cheers at a party.
