Man fined for calling Andy Murray a ‘Useless Jock’

A mailman from England faced a fine and community service for orchestrating a graffiti campaign labeling tennis star Andy Murray a “useless Jock”.

According to the Scotsman, Darren Swain was found guilty of vandalizing multiple posters at a Royal Mail sorting facility in Coventry, which contained derogatory remarks, with two posters including “racist slurs.”

The term “Jock” is a slang expression referring to a Scot. Personally, I prefer the Cockney London slang for a Scotsman, which is a Sweaty…Sweaty Sock…Jock.

At 45 years of age, the individual who referred to himself as “the scarlet pimpernel of the Post Office,” was apprehended after officials set up hidden cameras and engaged handwriting specialists.

He ultimately faced convictions on three counts of criminal damage and two counts of racially aggravated criminal damage.

At Coventry Magistrates Court, he received a sentence of 200 hours of unpaid work and was instructed to pay $4,500.

The reason behind Swain’s choice to direct some of his abuse at Murray, currently ranked No. 4 in men’s tennis, remains unclear.
