Police have taken a Florida man into custody after he allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a dog that resided in his household.
According to a police report, 22-year-old Joshua Werbicki was arrested last Friday while working at a Papa John’s restaurant.
The German Shepherd, which the police characterized as a “family pet,” belonged to Werbicki’s roommate. Sgt. Michael Healy of Brevard County Animal Services noted that the dog remains in the custody of its owner.
Family members of the dog reported to authorities that they had observed signs of abuse in their German Shepherd, which frequently limped and exhibited fear when approached.
As a result, the pet’s owners decided to install a home surveillance system, capturing footage of Werbicki’s alleged sexual acts involving the animal.
Healy mentioned the possibility of prohibiting Werbicki from owning or residing with any pets in the future.
Currently, Werbicki is being held on a bond of $2,500 and faces felony charges of animal cruelty and sexual acts involving animals, as reported.
