There’s no exaggeration here. A hotel in Austria is looking for a contemporary court jester, someone who is communicative, extroverted, musical, creative, and imaginative.
During the job interview, applicants are required to bring and play their musical instrument. Creative costumes are also encouraged. The individual who secures the position will receive a monthly salary of 1,400 euros, which is approximately $1,900.
According to hotel director Melanie Franke, potential candidates shouldn’t perceive their application as a fool’s errand. She emphasizes that the aim is to pamper guests like royalty, pointing out that “jesters were a luxury that royal families indulged themselves in.”
Located in Austria’s Styria province, the hotel boasts a design by the renowned Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Franke notes that the concept of a jester perfectly aligns with the vibrant aesthetic of the hotel.
