Jamie Oliver finds a fortune and some classics

It seems that celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has unearthed rare Joy Division and New Order master tapes while excavating the basement of a new restaurant located in Manchester, England.

During the construction of the new restaurant, situated in what was once a Midland bank branch, these tapes were discovered, along with firearms, gold, and jewels. The entire treasure trove is valued at $1.7 million. Subsequently, Oliver donated all items found in the basement to the treasury.

Hundreds of safety deposit boxes, originating from 1935, were also uncovered at the bank that has now been transformed into a restaurant by the celebrity chef.

As their owners could not be identified, officials from the Bank of England resorted to using a drill to open the boxes.

Beginning in March 2011, a team of architects and designers commenced work on the restaurant, named Jamie’s Italian.

“The restaurant is set to be one of the highlights in the Jamie’s Italian collection,” the celebrity chef remarked.
