For four days, a Swedish hotel manager in Austria found himself trapped in a malfunctioning lift until a bread delivery man heard his desperate calls for assistance.
According to police in the scenic Austrian province, the 58-year-old emerged physically well after his ordeal in the spa town of Bad Gastein, located near Salzburg.
He informed the authorities that he had completed a hunting course with survival training in the Swedish military, which proved invaluable during this experience.
After using his own key to enter the hotel and deliver a stack of mail that had built up outside the door, the delivery man—a friend of the hotel manager—quickly contacted the fire brigade for help.
