An Immokalee, Florida, woman is accused of hurling an 8-inch-long kitchen knife at her boyfriend after he farted in her face.
Detectives were informed by Deborah Ann Burns, 37, that a dispute arose while they were watching television.
According to Burns, her boyfriend intentionally let gas escape as he passed her on his way to the kitchen.
Upon responding to reports of a potential stabbing, officers located Burns’ boyfriend outside his residence, suffering from cuts on his abdomen and left arm, as noted in a report from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim recounted to authorities that his abdominal injury resulted from an argument over finances in the kitchen. He stated that she threw the knife at him, left the premises, but then returned to hit him in the arm with a stick.
The report indicates that the victim did not refer to the alleged flatulence incident, yet he “repeatedly insisted that if [Burns] came back he would kick her ass.”
During the investigation, Burns reportedly claimed that her boyfriend only became upset and started yelling after she confronted him regarding the fart.
Following the altercation, Burns was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. She is currently held on a $50,000 bond.
As per arrest records, between 2005 and 2012, Burns faced eight arrests for offenses such as cocaine possession, failure to pay child support, and trespassing.
