Debuting last year, the first elephant dung coffee made waves at an astonishing price of $1,100 per kilogram.
This month, a Japanese brewery named Sankt Gallen took the elephant dung “trend” to the next level by crafting elephant dung beer. Upon its release, the brew quickly sold out in mere minutes.
The beer is named “Un, Kono Kuro,” a clever play on the word “unko,” which translates to “crap” in Japanese. It is a coffee stout made utilizing elephant dung coffee beans.
One taster expressed particular enthusiasm for the beverage, stating, “For some time after I could still feel as if my body was saturated with that warm scent.”
The brewery has no plans to include the beer in its regular offerings; therefore, if you’re eager to try some poop beer, you might need to whip up your own batch. Given the remarkable success of this limited-release beer, it raises the question: could this be merely the start of elephant dung culinary creations?
