Crocodile bites off more than it can shoe

A confrontation of crocs unfolded as this lively creature attempted to devour a rubber shoe.

For 30 minutes, the reptile struggled to consume the durable footwear before ultimately giving up and ejecting it from its mouth.

Phil Lanoue, the observer who recorded the amusing event, witnessed it at the salt marshes of Huntington Beach State Park, South Carolina. He noticed a crowd gazing into the water.

Initially, he assumed the alligator had caught one of the local crabs.

The 58-year-old recounted, “I halted my car and inquired with a few individuals about what the gator had. When they informed me it was a shoe, I swiftly retrieved my camera to capture some images. Once we discovered it was a Crocs shoe, everyone found it quite amusing.”

“After a bit, the gator became perplexed and irritated by the persistent rubber and surrendered. It spat out the Croc and eventually left it behind.”

Lanoue was positioned merely 20 feet from the unfolding drama as he snapped photos, having previously taken pictures of crocs hunting for their meals, but this occurrence was certainly unprecedented.

He remarked, “I’ve seen alligators seize some curious items before, but certainly nothing like this.”
