Typically, a piglet who cannot use its hind legs would be euthanized – however, Chris P Bacon has managed to secure a three-book publishing deal instead.
Upon Chris’s birth in Florida, a woman brought him to Len Lucero’s veterinary clinic, expecting the poor creature to be put down.
However, after noticing the way the little pig navigated using his front legs, Dr. Lucero decided against euthanasia and took Chris home with him.
To help Chris get around, Dr. Lucero crafted a wheelchair from some of his son’s toy parts, later finding a harness and cart sized for a dog.
“Chris P Bacon was born with improperly developed hind legs,” Dr. Lucero explained.
“While this would typically result in the end for most animals, for Chris P Bacon, it marks just the start of his life’s journey.”
Chris rose to fame as a piglet after a video showcasing him in his miniature wheelchair went viral.
Since that time, he has become quite adept at using his wheels while also enjoying his meals, reaching a healthy weight of 10kg.
Now a genuine celebrity, Chris has secured a publishing deal with Hay Books, thanks to his internet-savvy owner, allowing him to truly bring home the bacon.
