Brazil needs to go off with a safe bang, say carnival sexperts

This year, health officials ensured that Brazil’s carnival season kicked off with enthusiasm by distributing 84 million condoms to revelers.

February saw the world’s largest party begin in Rio de Janeiro, continuing in various towns and cities across the nation.

In a bid to curb the spread of AIDS, the Ministry of Health has launched its “not without a condom” campaign in a country with 630,000 individuals living with HIV.

The focus is particularly on young people aged 15-24, especially young girls, as highlighted by health minister Alexandre Padilha, who noted they are the most at risk for HIV.
