A woman claims that her thong panties caused an injury when a metal clip detached and struck her in the eye, leading her to file a lawsuit against Victoria’s Secret. In a television interview, she described the injury as resulting in “excruciating pain.”
Macrida Patterson, a 52-year-old traffic officer from Los Angeles, shared with NBC’s “Today” show that she experienced corneal cuts due to the small piece of metal that secured a rhinestone heart to the blue thong.
“When I was putting on my Victoria’s Secret underwear, the metal popped into my eye. It happened so quickly. I was in excruciating pain. I screamed. That’s what occurred,” said Patterson.
Her attorney, Jason Buccat, claimed that the metal staple inflicted “severe damage” to her cornea, necessitating the use of a topical steroid.
The lawsuit, concerning product liability, was lodged in Los Angeles Superior Court and first reported by the Smoking Gun website, requesting unspecified damages.
A spokesperson for Victoria’s Secret, managed by Limited Brands Inc, could not be reached for immediate comment.
